Becoming Brave Together: heroic, extraordinary caregiving stories from mothers hidden in plain sight

Becoming Brave Together: heroic, extraordinary caregiving stories from mothers hidden in plain sight is a collection of inspiring stories written by mothers of children with disabilities.

These are the stories of unsung, brave moms who walk invisibly among us, dedicating time, energy, love, and their entire lives to their child who is often unable to help themselves.

Exhausted, disconnected, and lonely from caring for a child with disabilities or unique needs, these moms love with a depth that can seem almost super-human.

A child with a rare degenerative disease. A sibling with autism. A teen wading through anxiety and depression. An adult child with a debilitating illness. A child with extreme ADHD. The single common light in the darkness of their life’s journey is often their mother. She is the one person who holds the fragile balance all together. But who holds her all together?

Becoming Brave Together gives a voice to mothers walking an altered parenting journey. Giving up is not a consideration. Many times, neither is a nap. These women provide unconditional, dedicated care every day (and, many times, every night) for their most vulnerable loved ones. These extraordinary individuals press on with borrowed strength, living their own lives with an “always on” vigilance.

Find encouragement, strength, and resolve through the stories of mothers who refuse to give up. Heart-wrenching, vulnerable, and joy-producing, their invisible journeys come into focus and the vision of their collective experiences shines brightly so ALL can see and be seen.

This anthology of personal stories collected from extraordinary caregiving moms will be released in time for Mother’s Day, 2024.

Becoming Brave Together is an anthology from We Are Brave Together. We Are Brave Together is a supportive community for moms of children with disabilities and all unique needs.
